The third week of August brings closing weekend for Million Dollar Quartet at the Cain Center, plus John Waite performing at Lost Worlds Brewing, a Taylor Swift tribute experience, A1A Jimmy Buffett tribute at Cornelius Presbyterian Church, and the Davidson Gospelfest on the Town Green. Mid-August dining on Lake Norman means waterfront patios, cool craft cocktails, and the relaxed pace of late summer. Several local restaurants run weekly specials worth planning around:
- Jack's Corner Tap (Cornelius): Rotating daily deals. Monday Tacos $2 all day, Tuesday Chicken and Dumplings $10, Saturday Double Mimosa for $5, and Sunday brunch with $2 Mimosas and $4.50 Miller Draft.
- Fresh Chef (Cornelius): Thursday half-price bottles of select wine. A popular spot for an after-work glass on the patio.
- Galway Hooker (Cornelius): Thursday half-price draft beers and $4 well drinks. A lively Irish pub with a great Lake Norman following.
- Old Town Public House (21314 Catawba Ave, Cornelius): Wednesday half-price bottles of wine. Live music six nights a week. Check their calendar at drinklivemusic.com for the full lineup.
- Sushi at the Lake (Cornelius): Tuesday night $2.50 draft beers. A local favorite for fresh sushi and affordable drink specials.
- Little Mama's Italian (9623 Bailey Rd, Cornelius): Newly opened Lake Norman outpost of Frank Scibelli's FS Food Group. Scratch-made pastas, fresh mozzarella, and brick oven pizzas. A welcome addition to the Cornelius dining scene.
- Bin 110 (19712 One Norman Blvd, Cornelius): Late-night live music and wine bar. VIP table reservations available for Steel Magnolia on Saturday, August 22.
- BARREL & FORK (20517 N Main St, Cornelius): An upscale dining destination with a refined menu and craft cocktail program. Rated 4 stars by locals. A polished choice for a special dinner out on the lake.
- North Harbor Club (100 N Harbor Pl, Davidson): Waterfront dining on Lake Norman with harbor views and an elevated American menu. A Davidson institution for dinner with a view.
- 131 MAIN Restaurant (17830 Statesville Rd, Cornelius): A Cornelius staple with upscale Southern dishes, craft cocktails, and live music on select nights.
- BoatYard Lake Norman (18418 Statesville Rd, Cornelius): Waterfront dining with live music, a full bar, and lake views. The kitchen serves dinner until late.

These summer staples carry through the season without fail:
- Birkdale Farmers Market: Every Saturday 9:00 AM to noon at 120 S. Main St, Davidson. Fresh produce, artisan breads, local honey, and community vendors in a walkable downtown setting.
- Live at the Lake: Free live music rotates through Lost Worlds Brewing, 760 Craft Works, Primal Brewery, Royal Bliss, Harp and Crown, Rudder and Rose, Torrence and Knox, and The Serve. Schedules vary nightly; check Cornelius Today's Live at the Lake guide for the full weekly artist lineup.
- Wine Down Wednesday: Every Wednesday evening on South Street in Davidson. Wine tastings, boutique shopping, and sidewalk socializing.
- Game Night at Torrence and Knox: Every Wednesday at 6:30 PM at 20936 Torrence Chapel Rd, Cornelius. Free, family-friendly, board games provided.
- Music Bingo at BoatYard: Every Thursday at 7:00 PM. Free and all ages.
- Bridge Lunch at the Cain Center: Every Monday at 12:30 PM. Free and open to all.
