The calendar turns to September with a Labor Day holiday weekend in the middle of it. La Profesora performs at the Cain Center for the Arts, the free LangTree Live series continues in Mooresville, Rock the Park brings a Big 80s tribute band to Mooresville's Liberty Park, Downtown Mooresville holds its Food Truck Festival, and standup comedy returns to Lost Worlds Brewing. Monday, August 31
Bridge Lunch at the Cain Center for the Arts (21348 Catawba Ave, Cornelius) at 12:30 PM. Free and open to all. A gentle way to start the week at one of Lake Norman's cultural landmarks.
Chamber Music for All at Davidson College at 7:30 PM. Part of the college's free concert series, this evening of chamber music is open to the public. About 10 minutes from Watermark.
Also Monday at Old Town Public House (21314 Catawba Ave, Cornelius): Open Mic Night with $4 draft beers and rotating food trucks. A relaxed night out for the creative crowd.
Tuesday, September 1
Thinkin' & Drinkin' Trivia at Old Town Public House (21314 Catawba Ave, Cornelius) in the evening. Free to play, with prizes and a lively crowd.
Live acoustic music returns to venues across Cornelius for the evening. Check venue pages for specific artists as the weekly schedule rotates.
Also Tuesday: Jack's Corner Tap (8301 Magnolia Estates Dr, Cornelius) runs its Tuesday half-priced wine and chicken and dumplings specials.
Wednesday, September 2
La Profesora at the Cain Center for the Arts (21348 Catawba Ave, Cornelius). An acclaimed performer bringing an evening of Latin music and storytelling to the stage. Tickets available at cainarts.org.
Wine Down Wednesday returns on South Street in Davidson at 6:30 PM. Wine tastings, boutique shopping, and sidewalk socializing in one of the prettiest small downtowns in the Charlotte area.
Game Night at Torrence and Knox (20936 Torrence Chapel Rd, Cornelius) at 6:30 PM. Free and family-friendly, with board games presented by Games With Glen.
Also Wednesday: Mac's Speed Shop Lake Norman (19601 Liverpool Pkwy, Cornelius) hosts LKN Jeep Night with $11 PBR buckets, $5 Jameson shots, and $5.50 draft specials. Old Town Public House runs its Jazz Night from 7:00 to 10:00 PM and offers half-price bottles of wine.
Thursday, September 3
LangTree Live at LangTree Lake Norman (401 Langtree Rd, Mooresville) from 6:30 to 9:00 PM. The free outdoor concert series continues weekly through September at the entrance to Langtree on I-77. Bring a chair or blanket and catch a new band each Thursday on the lawn. Check the venue for this week's featured artist.
Music Bingo at BoatYard Lake Norman (18418 Statesville Rd, Cornelius) from 7:00 PM. Free and all ages, right on the lake about 5 minutes from Watermark. Arrive early for a table on the waterfront deck.
Also Thursday: Mac's Speed Shop Lake Norman serves $1.50 smoked wings for Thursday Night Football. Fresh Chef (20601 Torrence Chapel Rd, Cornelius) runs a half-price select wine bottle special on Thursdays.
Friday, September 4 · Labor Day weekend begins
Rock the Park: Big 80s Tribute Band at Liberty Park (744 E Broad St, Mooresville) from 6:30 PM. A free outdoor concert kicking off the holiday weekend with an 80s tribute act. About 20 minutes north of Watermark.
Jeffreys Lake Norman Patio Sessions in the early evening. Waterfront acoustic music at one of Lake Norman's classic restaurants. Free to attend; check the venue for this week's featured artist.
Free live music Friday across Cornelius: Lost Worlds Brewing, Torrence and Knox, Royal Bliss, and Harp and Crown all feature live acts. Check venue pages for the artist lineup; many shows start between 6:00 and 7:00 PM.
Saturday, September 5
Downtown Mooresville Festival of Food Trucks from 5:00 to 8:30 PM in downtown Mooresville. 15 plus food trucks, live music, and the Downtown Mooresville social district with one of North Carolina's first open-container designated areas. Free admission.
Traditional Series: Dom Flemons at Davidson College at 7:30 PM. Part of the college's concert series. Ticketed; check the college events page for details.
Birkdale Farmers Market runs from 9:00 AM to noon at 120 S. Main St in Davidson. Fresh produce, local baked goods, artisan crafts, and community vendors.
Saturday evening free live music continues at Lost Worlds Brewing, Harp and Crown, Royal Bliss, and Torrence and Knox. Check venue pages for specific artists.
Sunday, September 6
Standup Comedy at Lost Worlds Brewing (19700 One Norman Blvd, Cornelius), presented by Encore Comedy. Doors at 6:30 PM, show at 7:00 PM. A night of live standup comedy at one of Cornelius's favorite breweries, about 5 minutes from Watermark.
Acoustic Solutions jazz brunch at The Serve Pickleball+Kitchen in Cornelius from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Live jazz, an excellent brunch menu, and a relaxed patio atmosphere to close out the holiday weekend.
Labor Day weekend on the lake, September 5 through 7
Ramsey Creek Park and Beach in Cornelius stays open for its final weekend of the season through Monday, September 7, with a free shuttle from the Northcross Park and Ride lot. Swim, picnic, and enjoy the sand while the weather holds.
Jetton Park (19000 Jetton Rd, Cornelius) offers shoreline fishing, walking trails, and jetty views over Lake Norman. A beautiful, low-key holiday outing just minutes from Watermark.
Lake Norman's public boat ramps, waterfront restaurants, and breweries are all open through the holiday. Plan ahead for parking at the popular spots on a busy holiday weekend.

The first week of September keeps the Lake Norman dining scene lively with waterfront patios, craft cocktails, and weekly specials worth planning around:
