The final days of September hand the calendar to October this week, and Lake Norman has a strong start in store. BoatYard hosts Hells Bells (an AC/DC tribute) with TNT on Friday while the Lake Norman Philharmonic plays a free Symphony Under the Stars in Mooresville, the Carolina Renaissance Festival opens its 2026 season Saturday and Sunday in nearby Huntersville, American Elton (an Elton John tribute) headlines the Cain Center for the Arts, GENERATION RADIO takes the BoatYard stage, and the weekly music and dining circuit keeps its rhythm. Friday, October 2
The headline show of the week: Hells Bells (AC/DC tribute) with special guest TNT at BoatYard Lake Norman (18418 Statesville Rd, Cornelius) at 8:00 PM. The show is 21+, tickets around $15 in advance, and it benefits the Cool Kids Clubhouse and the Dan Jansen Foundation. It is one of the waterfront's biggest nights of the fall season, so grab tickets early and arrive before the opening band.
In Mooresville, the Lake Norman Philharmonic presents its free Symphony Under the Stars community concert at Liberty Park Amphitheater (Downtown Mooresville) at 7:00 PM. This year's program honors America's 250th anniversary and includes Mooresville's first-ever drone show over the amphitheater. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy an evening of orchestral music under the open sky, about 15 minutes from Watermark.

Harp and Crown (19930 W Catawba Ave, Cornelius) also serves all 16 oz drafts for $5 all Friday, one of the best-value evenings in Cornelius. And just up the road in Huntersville, the Rural Hill Corn Maze (4431 Neck Rd) opens its 2026 season today with the day maze Friday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and the night maze Fridays and Saturdays from 5:00 to 9:00 PM, plus hayrides, a pumpkin patch, and food trucks.
Saturday, October 3
Davidson Farmers Market runs from 9:00 AM to noon at 120 S. Main St in Davidson. Fresh produce, local baked goods, artisan crafts, and live music on the square, to start the weekend.
The Carolina Renaissance Festival opens its 2026 season this Saturday and Sunday at 16445 Poplar Tent Rd in Huntersville, about 20 minutes from Watermark. The 25-acre 16th-century village runs weekends October 3 through November 22 from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, with jousting, live stage shows, artisans, themed weekends, and food. It is one of the Charlotte region's signature fall events; online tickets are around $38 for adults and $24 for kids.
In Cornelius, American Elton, a tribute to Elton John, headlines the Cain Center for the Arts (21348 Catawba Ave) with doors at 6:30 PM and show at 7:30 PM. Tickets are available at cainarts.org. On the waterfront, GENERATION RADIO with U-Phonik plays BoatYard Lake Norman (18418 Statesville Rd) at 7:00 PM. The band features Jay DeMarcus of Rascal Flatts and Jason Scheff of Chicago, and the evening benefits the Cool Kids Clubhouse and the Dan Jansen Foundation. Lost Worlds Brewing keeps live music in the biergarten from 6:00 to 9:00 PM with The Vel-Crows (bluegrass and rock), Kristy Scheirer & Michael (acoustic rock) play 760 Craft Works at 6:30 PM, and Goodnight takes the stage at Harp and Crown from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. Free live music continues at Old Town Public House and Royal Bliss; check venue pages for specific artists, many starting around 6:00 or 7:00 PM.
In Mooresville, the Downtown Mooresville Festival of Food Trucks takes over Main Street from 5:00 to 8:30 PM with 15-plus food trucks, live music by local bands, and the downtown social district open for walking with a drink. A lively, family-friendly way to cap the first Saturday of October.
Sunday, October 4
Carolina Renaissance Festival continues its opening weekend on Sunday from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM in Huntersville, a full family day out with jousting and shows.
Acoustic Solutions jazz brunch at The Serve Pickleball+Kitchen in Cornelius runs from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and Standup Comedy at Lost Worlds Brewing (19700 One Norman Blvd, Cornelius), presented by Encore Comedy, opens doors at 6:30 PM with the show at 7:00 PM.

- Carolina Renaissance Festival runs weekends October 3 through November 22 from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM at 16445 Poplar Tent Rd, Huntersville, about 20 minutes from Watermark. Jousting, shows, artisans, and themed weekends all season long.
- Laketoberfest lands on Saturday, October 10 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Bailey Road Park (11536 Bailey Rd) in Cornelius. A free community festival with live music, local NC beer and wine, food trucks, and a KidsZone, with proceeds benefiting Lake Norman Wildlife Conservancy.
